Core Functions:
- Assist with the creation and distribution of tuition and fee invoices before each semester
- Ensure that all financial transactions are posted accurately and promptly to student ledgers within the Student Information System (SIS).
- Administer disbursement of Federal Direct Student Loan funds from the US Department of Education to student ledgers, and comply with all Title IV regulations.
- Generate student semester payment plans and process payments according to coordinating schedules.
- Record internal and external scholarship payments, employer tuition reimbursement requests, vouchers, and other payment sources
- Assist with year-end tax form 1098-T related to student tuition and fee payments.
- Assist with year-end data collection for annual external audit and compliance with the Federal ‘Proprietary School 90/10 Revenue Percentage’ submission.
- Maintain a student-centered customer service perspective.
- Communicate with students in an upbeat and encouraging manner (verbal and written communication)
- Engage in student payment accounts receivable (AR) collection tasks
- Produce weekly status reports related to student AR and collection activity
- Work closely with the Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, and other departments to streamline information related to student accounts
- Exhibit outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
- Participate in new student orientation presentations regarding student finance information
Background/Expertise:
- An associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- At least two (2) years of relevant financial experience in an accounting setting, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Previous experience in an Institution of Higher Learning environment preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal cost accounting regulations
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop is preferred but not required. Skilled in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Proficient with current technology and able to learn new skills/programs quickly
- Experience in Google Workspace includes Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including customer service
- Responsible, organized, prompt, and attentive to details
- Able to initiate and enjoy creating and improving processes
- Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and time-manage work assignments in a self-start environment
- Responsible and trustworthy with confidential financial information
