Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with experience in Operations and software architecture.
In this position, you will focus on the full lifecycle of software applications and database management. The overarching responsibility of this team is to promote and implement changes in a manufacturing operations environment to achieve site goals around quality, reducing costs, improving flow of product, and making our factory smarter through Industry 4.0 type initiatives. This position will provide the opportunity for independent action AND working in a team environment of manufacturing engineers, production personnel, management, and other support organizations. This position is ONSITE in Cedar Rapids, IA and may require travel occasionally to other facilities, but it will be minimal.
What You Will Do
Technical Leadership in the full lifecycle of applications and database management including requirements capture, development and software architecture, integration and verification testing, and documentation of software of moderate complexity
Lead improvements to departmental standards for requirements capture, analysis, design, development, code reviews, test and release software processes, tools, methods, and coding best practices in a manufacturing environment
Work closely with other project team members and lead the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems to ensure smooth operation and the product meets customer requirements
Provide project status with necessary supporting documentation
Coach, review, and delegate work to less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems, and build their capabilities
Qualifications You Must Have
Experience with software development or leading software development team
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
