A Dermatology Hospital-Based Practice is looking for an experienced Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner to join the growing team dedicated to serving a diverse and underserved population. The focus is in Medical Dermatology. There is some flexibility around hours and days per week during the week for day shifts only (no weekends required).
- Evaluate and treat patients with various Medical Dermatology complaints including rashes, acne, atopic dermatitis, skin cancer, psoriasis, warts, impetigo
- Perform shave and punch biopsies, wound care, appropriate surgical procedures such as incision and drainage
- Administer cryotherapy, injections, and prescribe appropriate oral medications
- Experience with complete body exam for skin cancer screening
- Team approach to patient care, supervising physicians are available for oversight at all times and consultation with supervising physicians are expected for challenging cases
- Volume is expected to be 25-35 patients per day
- Advanced EMR for documentation
- Flexibility for part-time (2 days per week) or full-time employment
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred)
- Appropriate advanced education/certification based on job title
- NY State licensure in good standing
- DEA
- Two or more years experience in medical dermatology strongly preferred, preferably in a large-scale healthcare organization, demonstrating superior knowledge and ability to perform all tasks within the delineation of privileges permitted for specific department. Outstanding candidates with experience in other fields will be considered and training in basic dermatology curriculum and procedures will be given by experienced supervising physicians.
- Registration required with New York State as Physician Assistant. Certification may be required with the American Heart Association or like organization in some areas (such as Basic Life Support/BLS).
- Certification with National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (or equivalent organization) preferred for PA candidates. Certified nurse practitioner with experience in dermatology preferred for NP candidates.
- General computer skills to be proficient in a robust Electronic Medical Record environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with people of varying socioeconomic status and practice culturally-sensitive medicine
