This position, in partnership with the entire branch leadership team, will direct efforts to increase member engagement, help members reach their health goals, and build relationships through wellness program development. The Senior Healthy Living Director, under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, is responsible for implementing ongoing tactics to engage new and returning members, supporting each in their health and wellness goals through innovative programs and services, and will build and directly supervise the Healthy Living Department team. The Senior Healthy Living Director takes an active leadership role in the branch’s Annual Giving Campaign, including donor and volunteer cultivation. Improving the health and wellness of the community we serve and relationship-building with members are high priorities, as is the impact they have on member retention. The ideal candidate must be able to lead a team of wellness professionals and personally connect members to the Y and each other. This individual should possess the leadership skills necessary to successfully communicate and engage with co-workers, members, associates, volunteers, donors, and the general public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Uphold the mission of the YMCA and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
Serves as a role model and advocate of the YMCA Mission, Promise, Values and Voice.
Implements health and wellness strategies that support the engagement and retention of existing members.
Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and evaluates Healthy Living Coaches and Group Fitness Instructors. Develops an effective and mission-driven team focused on healthy living.
Develops and directs high-quality wellness programs, services, and member engagement that support the branch and association's mission, goals, and strategies.
Implements and assists in facilitating YMCA Chronic Disease Prevention and Management programs, such as LIVEStrong at the YMCA, Diabetes Prevention Program, and Weight Loss Programs.
Manages the Wellness Center's daily operations. Maintains fitness equipment cleanliness and safety and cultivates relationships with equipment vendors.
Develops, manages, and monitors the wellness operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
Daily operations of the Group Fitness Program, including teaching classes, auditing classes and providing instructor feedback.
Demonstrates a commitment to the charitable work of the YMCA and accepts a leadership role in the activities and events of the YMCA Annual Campaign.
Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The individual in this position is responsible for the direct supervision of 1 full-time Assistant Healthy Living Director (over personal training and other duties as assigned), 15+ healthy living coaches, 10+ personal trainers, 1 part-time group fitness coordinator and 40+ group exercise instructors. Must successfully manage a $250,000 annual budget, serving 13,000 members.

Successful performance in this position results in high-quality member engagement and relationship-building among staff, members, program participants, and volunteers. Supporting the YMCA’s mission by reflecting the characteristics of welcoming, nurturing, genuine, determined, and hopeful. Ensuring facility cleanliness and fitness equipment are ready for member use and looking their best.
QualificationsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek proven skills in the health and wellness field, financial development, fiscal management, program development, volunteer development, and community partnerships. Candidate must be able to nurture a high-performing team of staff and volunteers focused on relationship-building and member involvement.
Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience in health/wellness preferred
Previous management experience in recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and volunteer groups, with the ability to maintain all records related to staff certifications and general operations.
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, particularly evening and weekend hours
Ability to develop and lead new member connection and education efforts such as orientations,
