This role is pivotal in leading core financial reporting to ensure accuracy and consistency in institutional reporting. Reporting directly to the Director of Central Finance, the Assistant Manager of Reporting oversees critical functions including financial reporting, Chart of Accounts oversight, and systems integration. The position leverages Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning to enhance data accuracy, streamline operations, and support strategic decision-making across the university and the University System of New Hampshire (USNH).

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Collaborates with the Director of Central Finance to define departmental goals and advance strategic initiatives in alignment with institutional and USNH priorities.

  • Leads implementation of specific operational improvements such as process automation, data accuracy enhancement, and cost reduction, and supports finance transformation initiatives through Workday and Adaptive Planning.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Directs the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, institutional reports, and forecasts using Workday and Adaptive Planning.

  • Conducts financial analysis to identify trends, explain variances, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.

System Collaboration & Technology Oversight

  • Works closely with USNH and ET&S to ensure Workday system functionality, reporting capabilities, and internal user support.

  • Leads or supports Workday/Adaptive testing, system upgrades, and continuous process optimization.

Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Sets service standards for financial transaction support and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely responses to campus partners, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Gathers feedback to identify pain points and lead service improvements.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned to support Financial Affairs and broader university or USNH financial goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting or financial operations.

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and relevant compliance standards.

  • Hands-on experience with Workday Financials and/or Adaptive Planning.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or master’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • Experience in higher education or public sector financial management.

  • Experience supporting ERP implementations or system optimization efforts.
