This is a great opportunity to combine technical skills with customer interaction. As a Field Support Engineer, you will travel to customer sites to upgrade hardware, software, and to provide application training. Travel within assigned territory is required, with the potential to travel to other domestic states as necessary to support our customers. This position will support the Allentown, PA area with routine travel to surrounding counties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of Ubuntu servers and Windows desktop and laptop machines, local area network, related equipment and devices, including system hardening
  • Become an expert at installation and configuration of Clear Ballot Group software
  • Become proficient at hardware upgrades
  • Respond to end-user reported incidents, create and track incidents in a ticketing system
  • Daily interaction with both local and remote users for needs gathering and problem analysis
  • Provide technical leadership on a variety of highly specialized project-related activities requiring expertise in specific scientific/technical areas for digital voting system
  • Become a reliable and trusted source of problem resolution for our customers

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Ubuntu, installing and configuring software, peripherals and device drivers
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a customer-facing role and ability to empathize with customer needs and schedule
  • Electro-mechanical or computer assembly experience required
  • Knowledge or experience with imaging or cloning computer configurations
  • Familiarity with customer support systems and bug tracking systems (Jira Service Desk, Jira)
  • Experience with supporting equipment in public agencies or local government offices preferred
  • Election experience/knowledge strongly preferred

Requirements:

  • Applicants must reside in the Allentown, PA area in order to support our customers onsite
  • Must be able to travel on a weekly basis within your assigned territory and to other customer sites as necessary
  • A car and a valid driver's license is required. Mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Must be able to frequently lift equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds, and assist with two-person lifts of equipment weighing 50-100 pounds.
