About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Solution Engineer, HVAC Controls is responsible for supporting the Global Strategic Account (GSA) teams with technical designs and solutions, analysis and proposals specifically related to customer requirements for data center systems and controls.  The ideal candidate would bring 5+ years experience in Chilled Water Systems, Control Theory, Advanced HVAC Controls, BMS and BAS protocols. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or RFP's, ensuring proper scope and required technical specifications are met
  • Develops detailed proposals for controls solutions including dwg, submittals, and other documents
  • Provide preliminary designs for custom solutions and work with Product and Engineering teams to complete designs
  • Establishes methodologies and tools for HVAC system controls to improve sales and design processes. 
  • Represents functional area in project development teams with responsibility for entire functional requirement.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems, analyzes data, provides technical interpretation and recommendations, and contributes to the documentation of results.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in the area of Chilled Water Equipment, HVAC controls and BMS integration to Vertiv thermal management equipment.
  • Represents in technical meetings with various departments and others outside of the company. Interfaces with customer/field applications. 
  • ​Creates, maintains, and reviews bill of materials (BOMS) with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • ​Performs other related duties as assigned​.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in Chilled Water Systems & Operation, Advanced HVAC Controls, and Control Theory.
  • 5+ years experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Mechanical System BMS.
  • ​Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness. 
  • ​Self-starter. Ability to solve problems, take responsibility and deliver results with a spirit of innovation and strong commitment to excellence. 
  • ​Proficiency in use of MS Office Software – such as PowerPoint, EXCEL and Word 
  • ​Ability to read, interpret and produce technical drawings. 
  • ​Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. 
  • ​Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills  
  • ​Advanced understanding of controls design, manufacturing practices, and processes. 
  • ​Exhibit forward-looking sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills. 
  • ​Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills. 
  • ​Must be action-oriented with an eye for finding opportunity and solving problems.  
  • ​Detail oriented with high attention to detail and proven ability to complete tasks on schedule. 
  • ​Project management skills preferred. 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.  

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • 10%

The anticipated salary for this role in the WA locality is between $125,000. to $140,000. per year.  Salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. The total compensation is based on an 90/10 split including base salary listed above and Vertiv Sales Incentive at 10%.  Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
