Mercy Hospital’s 7M Medical Telemetry Unit cares for a diverse population of patients ranging from ages 18 to 100+ years old. This unit cares for patients who have peg tubes, foley catheters, central lines, and tracheostomies, are post-heart catheterization, require wound care, have drug and alcohol addictions, or have mental illnesses and are waiting for placement at a psychiatric facility. Minimal bedside procedures are done on this unit, but caregivers occasionally see fluid aspiration from joints and incision/drainage of small skin abscesses. As an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) on this team, you will provide clinical supervision and coordinate 7M’s clinical operations with other departmental disciplines, under the direction of the Nurse Manager. You will also provide effective and efficient patient care for all ages. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

• Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.  

• Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.  

• Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues. 

• Interview, select and orient new caregivers.  

• Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.  

• Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.  

• Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing 

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) 

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

• Two years of recent clinical nursing experience 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of employment
