Overview

Job Title: Associate Principal Scientist, Life Sciences

Employer: Pepsi-Cola Technical Operations, Inc.

Location: 700 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, Westchester, New York 10577

 

Responsibilities

Duties: Provide nutritional and policy expertise to inform PBNA (PepsiCo Beverages North America) Portfolio of the Future workstreams within beverages. In conjunction with CSD (carbonated soft drinks) platform lead and Life Sciences partners, shape PepsiCo’s PEP+ external commitment goals by creating additional line of sight to positive nutrition for the future. Partner with Regulatory and Policy to monitor and assess evolving landscapes that could impact the beverage portfolio. Monitor and extract future beverage trends and anticipated shifts that are influenced by public policy. Leverage a human-centric approach and scientific depth in sweeteners to create a multi-year sweetener research roadmap to drive technical unlocks at scale and through partnership with global and regional leads. Lead Life Sciences activities for CSD portfolio, which includes brands like Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Bubly, Soulboost, and more. Ability to leverage LS global partners to understand active workstreams and drive efficiencies in CSD or Sweetener focused research and/or claims. Manage the team’s contractor directly to execute various projects across all beverage categories within PBNA. Strategically leverage and integrate new capabilities regarding human-centric and consumer insights into the team to identify opportunity spaces relevant to Life Sciences.

 

*Telecommuting permitted 20%: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Pepsi-Cola Technical Operations, Inc. office in Purchase, NY.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: Position requires a Master's degree (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in Public Health, Nutritional Science, or Food Science and seven (7) years of experience in job offered or related roles with subject matter expertise in health & nutrition sciences. Must have five (5) years of experience in: Developing and interpreting scientific literature to ensure integrity of clinical studies for functional ingredients; Analyzing and interpreting public policy, including anticipated shifts through partnership with trade associations; and Planning, developing, and executing educational materials for healthcare or R&D professionals. Must have three (3) years of experience in: Translating science into on-pack claims that resonate with consumers. Must have six (6) months of experience in: Creating and executing a research based, multi-year sweetener strategic roadmap.

 

*Travel Required: 20% Domestic.

 

Salary: $120,058 - $138,000/ year.
