Job Description

Vattenfall Offshore Wind are recruiting a T&I Installation Manager for Subsea Power cables being responsible for the managing the interfaces during the Preparation and Execution phase for the Transport and Installation of Subsea power cables at our Offshore Windfarms.

You will be part of the Marine Logistics and Installation Department  working closely together with the T&I Offshore Product & Installation Managers interfacing with Vattenfall’s Project Teams and first class Installation Contractors.

As Installation Manager you will be part of the Marine Logistics & Installation Department  within our Business Area Wind, Offshore Engineering Team. The Engineering Team  is the technical know-how centre within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects throughout the projects’ development,  implementation and operational phases.

As the Vattenfall Installation Manager for Subsea Power cables you will fulfil the following key roles:

  • Manage the installation contract and ensure that all interfaces between relevant internal and external stakeholders are identified and properly managed.
  • Being the main interface towards the Offshore Installation Contractor. 
  • Manage the review process of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and ensure that these are accepted by relevant stakeholder within the contractual agreed timeframe.
  • Manage that Rehearsal of Concept (ROC) Drill, Technical Interface and HAZID/HAZOP workshops, etc. are conducted.
  • Ensure that the load-out, transportation and offshore installation works are being carried out in accordance with the Employer’s Requirements and best industry practice.
  • Manage, steer and motivate a team of client representatives onboard the contractor’s offshore installation vessel(s).
  • Manage day to day coordination and communication with the contractor, MWS and Employer’s Construction Manager.

  • Monitor progress of installation works and report risks, risk mitigation and opportunities.

  • Manage that lessons learned are properly documented, implemented and shared with all relevant stakeholder on a continuously basis.

  • Provide and implement optimizations and support cross-project developments to improve Vattenfall’s construction management approach related to marine operations.

  • Liaise with the line management team organisation, share knowledge and information, assist monitoring and trouble shooting and facilitate resource management.

Qualifications

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • A first degree in a relevant discipline or Master Mariner with professional experience.  A relevant second degree qualification ,as well as professional chartership through a recognised Institution, could  also be beneficial.
  • 5-10 years relevant experience working Offshore Transport & Installation of Subsea power cables including :
  • Experience with marine risk management and the Marine Warranty Survey process;
  • Knowledge of  cable installation vessels, burial equipment, installation tools and  methodologies as well as relevant offshore codes and standards;
  • An understanding of Geological Constraints including cable protection and installation systems, which include ‘’CPS’s’’, burial equipment, seabed and cable stabilisation, mattress and crushed rock installation, etc. would be beneficial.
  • The ability to apply sound judgement to make decisions in challenging situations;
  • Personal  motivation with  the ability to communicate effectively while remaining  focussed on the challenges;
  • A good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
