Job Description

As a Technician Lead, you will be responsible for the supervision and guidance of the test technician team. You will support technicians with direction on cell setup, safety and preventative maintenance checks, and test logging. As a lead you will also support training to improve the overall skillsets of the technicians. You will participate in interviews of new potential technicians as well as bi-yearly reviews for current technicians. As a core part of your position you will work directly with Test Engineers and Test Engineering Leads to ensure necessary tasks are completed.   

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure fixtures for the parts, measurements, and pictures are appropriate and validated to ensure function and fit exists
  • Monitor test cell operation and function to ensure proper operations in accordance with test procedures
  • Part inspection determining issues related to performance
  • Document and report all issues so appropriate decisions can be made by team
  • Set up mechanical, or electric test equipment in accordance with engineering test procedures
  • Documentation of test results and determine data is accurate and in line with required procedures
  • Preparation of test parts including setup of electric drivetrain and motor development
  • Ensure work is performed in a safely using all available PPE and safety equipment
  • Leading an assigned group of Test Technicians
  • Coordinate cleaning efforts and maintain presentable work stations
  • Transfer of information and responsibilities to others within the group
  • Be a role model for Technicians following all guidelines including proper PPE usage and the UTAC Way mentality

Qualifications

 

  • High school Diploma
  • Associate of Science in Engineering Technology or a related field a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in an automotive engineering laboratory or equivalent related work experience
  • Completed coursework in electronics, circuits, or electrified product experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven knowledge of the practical application engineering sciences
  • Analytical, focused, and willing to put forth efforts related to and applying detail of specific tasks in order to complete required engineering
  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to us a computer

Physical Demands:

  • Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise. 
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
  • Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Requirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bed, life, see, speak, hear.
  • May require occasional travel (locally, nationally, internationally)
  • Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications 
  • Advanced experience with hand tools required 
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and drawings a plus  
  • Team player with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and management 
  • Due to the nature of work, we perform; applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Resident. 
  • 1-5+ years of mechanical work in either automotive or fabrication 
  • Familiarity with electric motors, pumps, and VFDs a plus 
  • Ability to work and problem solve on your own vehicle <
