Middle Market Banking Specialty Relationship Manager II

The candidate for this role will serve as a junior business development banker focused on acquiring and growing relationships within the Middle Market Corporate Bank. This candidate will support Sr Corporate Bankers and leaders in developing new client relationships, co-managing existing relationships and driving client profitability through cross sell.  The  candidate will play an integral role in product positioning, due diligence, and transaction execution by creating value-add pitchbooks, analyzing financials, completing pre-screen deal memos, supporting the credit approval process, managing prospect databases and helping onboard and service customer relationships. The candidate in this position will demonstrate increased ability to take on more responsibility and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior Relationship Managers (RMs) in the preparation of customer presentations and term sheets, as well as manage the pipeline activity for sales reps and managers

• Create client pitchbooks and craft various financing views (structure and pricing) from scratch with limited senior banker involvement

• Complete pre-screen deal memos including analysis of industry and company financial condition, application of pricing models and evaluations of the viability and profitability of the opportunity

• Ownership of prescreens for credit approval and direct involvement throughout credit approval process including working directly with the client to answer questions from credit and receive all necessary documentation for closing

• Partner with internal stakeholders including Underwriting, Risk, Commercial Client Service and Support and Treasury Management to provide an exemplary customer experience

• Data Driven Prospecting:

  • Utilizing key company and capital structure metrics from multiple sources to create fully comprehensive and up to date prospect universe

  • Identifying most actionable prospects and applicable calling strategies

  • Mine Salesforce.com and outside databases to keep data current, and to identify and prioritize corporate prospects and their key decision-makers

• Participate in business development networking activities

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience

• At least 3 years of experience in commercial banking

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master’s in Business Administration or a Master’s in Finance

• Completion of a formal credit development program

• FINRA Licenses SIE, 79, 63

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
