THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE.

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The Early Interventionist provides direct developmental therapy services in a home or community-based environment and/or virtually to children up to five years of age through a contract with the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS).   

1. Provides direct patient care under the guidelines of TEIS. 
2. Implements services with children and families using knowledge of strategies of Family Guided Routines-Based Intervention (FGRBI). 
3. Completes routinely scheduled assessments using the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS).
4. Manages program data using Tennessee’s Early Intervention Data System (TEIDS) related to grant requirements. 
5. Manages patient charts, including session documentation, correspondence, records requests, letters to other professionals and maintains files in compliance with licensure regulations. 
6. Establishes and maintains collaboration with other professionals providing services for PLC clients, including attendance at Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings, Transition meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
7. Attends agency professional meetings; participates in activities to remain current with evidence-based practice needed for programming and to maintain grant requirements. 
8. Travels to home and community sites to provide services as indicated on the children’s IFSP.
9. Perform other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies (child development), Early Intervention, Deaf Education or Visual Disabilities, Special Education K-12, Elementary Education, Communication Disorders or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Child Safety Registry searches required by TEIS. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability and skill to provide assessment/treatment services to children with developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of basic communication principles and parameters.
• Skill in implementing clinical practices of developmental therapy and/or speech-language pathology.
• Ability to display an attitude of sensitivity to the needs of clients.

WORK SCHEDULE:  This position may require occasional overnight travel.
