The Medical Assistant role is key to the efficient operation of the practice by providing clinical and administrative support to our providers. Serves as a liaison between providers and patients. Initiates prior authorizations for medications, obtains and records vital signs, prepares and updates patient medical record prior to the appointment, reviews and addresses patients' clinical messages, reconciles clinical data, administers vaccines, cleans and restocks exam rooms, prepares patients for examinations, and collaborates with the clinical team.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development
• Able to assess and interpret data reflective of the client’s status
• Provides care outlined in standards, policies and procedures
• Specialized departmental training to provide care to patients within the role
• Successful completion of SMH orientation
• Command of verbal and written English
• Positive interpersonal communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Operation of clinical equipment
• Demonstration of clinical competence

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of a two year accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

License/Certification:

• Medical Assistant
