Position Overview

The Department of Insurance is seeking to hire a Public Service Administrator to serve as the Assistant Deputy Director of Property and Casualty Examinations in the Market Conduct Division. This position supervises various Insurance Performance Examiners of property and casualty insurance company market conduct examinations; acts as the supervising examiner-in-charge of large and complex examinations; assists the Chief Examiner of Market Conduct in administering the property and casualty market conduct examination program; and directs all field special examination activity and/or fraud investigations. Essential Functions

• Supervises various Insurance Performance Examiners of property and casualty insurance company market conduct examinations
• Serves as full line supervisor.
• Acts as the supervising examiner-in-charge of property and casualty market conduct examinations and in coordination with the chief examiner
• Assists the Chief Examiner of Market Conduct in administering the property and casualty market conduct examinations.
• Directs all field special examination activity and/or fraud investigations.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in auditing, accounting, finance, statistics, business administration, economics, or insurance.
• Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers at least two (2) years of underwriting and/or claims experience.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of current experience as an examiner in charge.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience in the property/casualty insurance market.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience gaining thorough knowledge of the Illinois Insurance Code and all federal and state laws, rules and regulations that govern the property and casualty insurance industry.
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience gaining extensive knowledge of agency programs and service objectives, activities, and operational systems.
• Prefers the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society Designation Market Conduct Management (MCM).
• Prefers at least three (3) years of experience performing duties in a professional, efficient, and ethical manner and to maintain the confidentiality of the company’s information that is obtained during an examination.
