Protective Life Insurance Company is seeking a Senior SQL Developer to join our growing software development team.
As a Senior SQL Developer, you will provide technical recommendations and serve as the primary database resource expert to the department for existing and future applications.

Primary Job Duties

• T-SQL Code deployment: schema design, tables, view, stored procedure, other objects, including encryption
• Writing (automating and maintaining) data pipeline processes with focus on SSIS
• Working with  IT to meet their daily needs regarding: permissions, SQL accounts, system access
• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
• Analyzing current technology utilized within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them
• Updating our existing processes and designing new processes as needed to optimize performance
• Staying current on industry trends and sourcing new ways for our business to improve

Additional Responsibilities

• Understanding and promoting best practices and standards for database development; oversee governance to assure product stability and performance
• Identifying database requirements by interviewing customers; analyze, design, and code database utilities for existing and future systems
• Ensuring high-level integration of application development with industry standards
• Providing technical consultation to the development teams on more complex database projects to ensure proper data modeling and design paradigms are applied in the creation and maintenance of all application databases.

Requirements

• Extensive experience maintaining and developing production mission critical databases, leveraging Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later versions
• Advanced SSIS, SSAS, SSRS development skills with emphasis on SSIS.
• Devops experience in CI/CD
• Ability to tune queries and offer suggestions for performance improvement
• Aggregation of data from multiple sources and present reports for development teams to focus tuning efforts
• Working knowledge of Tableau highly desired
• Hands-on experience with MSSQL Always On Availability Groups, Redgate SQL tools diagnostic manager, appdynamics preferred
• Administering very large and high-volume transactional databases in a 24/7 environment
• Setting up and administering database environments; including Development, Model office, Disaster Recovery and Production
• Good working knowledge of DataMart and Data Warehouse concepts and practice implementations
• A Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum of 7 years relevant industry experience as a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator or Database Developer

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, the ability to spot issues before they become problems

• Ability to effectively manage and assign projects as necessary while lending continuous support to the team with a good amount of availability
• Experience in 24x7x365 production systems support with excellent knowledge of ‘Always On High Availability’

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $86,350 to $109,219. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
