Summary/Description:

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time Clinical Instructor/Clinical Pharmacist within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. The Clinical Instructor/Clinical Pharmacist provides a high level of comprehensive pharmaceutical services as defined in the Departmental Mission Statement and the Standards of Practice. This position organizes, supervises, directs, and verifies the duties and functions performed by supportive personnel to ensure the provision of accurate, efficient, and appropriate drug distribution services to the patient. This position also provides direct patient care activities to ensure safe and effective drug therapy through the provision of clinical services. Further, the person in this position identifies potential problems relating to activities and communicates those situations and/or solutions to the appropriate managerial personnel. Finally, the person in this position educates and/or advises pharmacy students and pharmacy residents/fellows as well as other health care students and residents.

Duties:

Clinical Instructor responsibilities of the position include the provision of didactic and clinical experiential teaching/training in the College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy Program.

Clinical Pharmacist responsibilities include:

  • Processing of orders - prioritize and verify all new medication orders ensuring accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Check accuracy of all medications prior to dispensing.
  • Personnel supervision - directly supervises pharmacy technicians, students, and residents.
  • Quality Assurance - participates in Medication Use Evaluations.
  • Drug Information - provides complete and accurate drug information.
  • Cost containment - drug therapy provided is cost-effective.
  • Direct patient care - anticoagulation monitoring, participation in code team.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Work arrangement:

  • On-site position is located on the UIC campus. The pharmacist will support all Ambulatory Pharmacies remotely from a centralized worksite.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PharmD degree from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
