Job Summary
Reporting to the Collections Manager/Registrar, the Collections Information Specialist will perform a variety of registration duties in support of the collections management program at the Smith College Museum of Art. This term-limited position is an excellent opportunity for a recent master's-level graduate and will play a key role in a forthcoming database migration from MimsyXG to a new system. This project will involve close collaboration with collections specialists across the Five College Consortium. Additionally, this role will assist in the general management of collections related data.

Essential Functions
Collections Data Management (45%)
Undertake day-to-day object tracking and data entry
Participate in the Collections Management and Access Committee which collectively oversees the shared database platform
Manage image use requests and rights and reproductions in the database
Maintain and update in-house cataloging manual
Assist with processing workflows related to acquisitions
Database Migration (45%)
Prepare, enhance, and clean data in support of database migration
Assist with quality control and data clean-up post migration
Implement existing data standards and workflows, and participate in the development of new standards and workflows post-migration
Other Functions
Enter percentage of time spent and category of work (10%)
Participating in meetings, joint decision making, and reporting related to the migration project

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
Degree in Information Studies, Museum Studies, Art or a related field. MLIS preferred.
Experience with relational databases
Experience with data standards and knowledge of published vocabularies
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with museum collections management systems and/or digital asset management systems
Art handling experience
Experience working in an art museum setting
Skills
Computer skills: Google Suite, Word, Excel
