POSITION CONCEPT

The Network Domain Architect is responsible for designing and governing the enterprise network architecture to ensure it aligns with business goals, technology strategies, and security requirements. Provides strategically-focused direction, technical leadership, and architectural oversight for all network-related initiatives, including LAN/WAN, cloud networking, network security, and emerging technologies. Responsible for ensuring all network security controls (i.e. proxies, network segmentation, NAC, ACLs, etc.) are implemented and managed as per TECO standards. Has primary accountability for network technologies such as route/switch, on-premise LAN/WAN, IPAM, Wi-Fi, ISP management, site-to-site VPNs, proxies (forward and reverse), Wireless, Load Balancing, DNS, automation, NAC/user access, hyperconverged infrastructure, and overall network security. Partners with the Telecommunication teams on establishing/upgrading existing circuits/communication links. Familiarity with network security principles and the technologies with a deep understanding of enterprise grade hardware to make the best decisions to support the designs.  Partner with the Firewall team to ensure that we have secure solutions in place.  May serve as a project lead, cross-train peers, and mentor to other department team members.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead implementation of enterprise-wide network architecture initiatives and solutions and proof-of-concept projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, affiliates, and business units to implement and support existing and future solutions. (40%)

 

  1. Architect and design network solutions that align with TECO standards and guide other IT teams in the implementation and support of the technologies (20%)

 

  1. Provide technical leadership to the infrastructure delivery teams with focus on alignment of execution to established network requirements. (20%)

 

  1. Develop and maintain the enterprise network architecture roadmap in alignment with business and IT strategies. (20%)

 

RELATIONSHIPS

 

Key Internal:                     Consults with all IT departments as needed.  Provide technical direction to members of project teams.

 

Key External:                    Consults with vendor technical specialists and account managers for the various technologies deployed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION 

 

Required:            Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, other IT related field or Electrical Engineering.

 

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:           Currently possess, or the ability to obtain one or more active industry recognized network or security certifications over multiple domains from the following certification vendors: (ISC)2, CompTIA, Cisco, VMWare, Pure etc.

 

Preferred:           Microsoft Certified: Azure Infrastructure Architect, or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). ITIL Foundation or equivalent knowledge of IT service management best practices.
