As a Regional Environmental Compliance Program Manager Americas (AMER) for the Americas, you will be managing the full spectrum of regulatory environmental requirements, including Federal, State, and local regulations with emphasis on air, water, waste management and water quality permitting, with a fundamental understanding of environmental management systems. Additionally, you will identify environmental aspects and ensure Microsoft data centers remain in full compliance, communicate these requirements to all stakeholders and management, and provide training online and/or in person.

 

This opportunity will allow you to actively participate in a dynamic and exciting environment. You will be working independently in-region and will represent Microsoft to our external and internal customers. You will have a opportunity to continue learning new tools, work with other Environmental PMs across the globe, third-party environmental consultants, and as such will grow and develop your career well beyond your established goals. This position requires you to work on location, in one of our data centers in the Americas region, with occasional travel to other locations. 

 

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our

cloud services. As a Regional Environmental Compliance Program Manager Americas (AMER), you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. This position is 100% onsite in Chicago, IL; 0-25% travel will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental compliance program for operating sites and handover of construction projects to operations.
  • Support operations personnel in completing regulatory obligations and addressing permit requirements.           
  • Interact with facility personnel, company management, legal counsel, environmental sustainability team, and other relevant internal stakeholders to communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance issues, act as a technical resource, and coordinate on key initiatives.
  • Define and implement necessary training for facility operations personnel for managing environmental issues.
  • Support site incident investigations.
  • Interact with regulatory agency personnel on major environmental issues.
  • Monitor development of legislative changes in the Americas, analyze potential impacts on operations, and provide updates to the site personnel.
