Position Overview
Adaptive is seeking an accomplished, creative and independent Sr Scientist to join the Discovery team in South San Francisco. As a member of the team you will build and refine novel cellular and molecular assays to identify TCRs associated with human disease, or as potential therapies for cancer or autoimmune disease. With core Adaptive technologies such as ImmunoSEQ and pairSEQ at your disposal, you will identify antigen-specific human TCRs at a scale and throughput not possible before. Working closely with colleagues locally in South San Francisco, as well as members of the R&D and Computational Biology teams in Seattle, you will assess these TCRs for their potential as biomarkers of human disease or utility in T cell based therapeutics. As our group continues to grow, you may also mentor and manage the work of Research Associates.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Design, execute and analyze immunology experiments (in collaboration with molecular and computational teams in Seattle)
- Develop novel approaches aimed at identifying and characterizing antigen-specific CD4+ T cells associated with cancer, infectious disease, and autoimmunity
- Coordinate projects and experiments with other scientists and research associates
- Present data in group meetings, to senior leadership, cross functional teams, and external conferences
- Be a source of expertise for cutting edge T cell technologies and TCR sequencing by keeping up with current literature
Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Other)
Required
- PhD degree in Immunology or related field
- 5+ years of industry experience
Preferred
- A deep understanding of conventional immunological techniques
- Familiarity with multiparametric flow cytometry and cell sorting
- Strong preference for candidates with relevant postdoctoral experience (Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience)
- Experience in any of the following fields: cancer immunotherapy, autoimmunity, or T cell biology
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with diverse cell-based in vitro assays and cell culture
- Experience with handling human tissue specimens (blood, etc.)
- Experience with NGS datasets and statistics
- Appreciation of and enthusiasm for the adaptive immune system
Working Conditions
Requires working in a laboratory handling human biological specimens.
Compensation
Salary Range: $123,640 - $185,460
Other compensation elements include:
- equity grant
- bonus eligible
