Purpose

The Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences seeks an Executive Deputy Director to assist the Director and Associate VP for Research. This role involves supporting faculty hiring, managing strategic initiatives in Computational Medicine in collaboration with key academic and external partners, and contributing to development efforts. The Executive Deputy Director will play a crucial role in advancing the Institute's mission through various strategic projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director in all matters related to Oden Institute faculty hiring, including defining and documenting processes, collaborating with colleges, schools, and departments to plan and execute joint hires, overseeing search committee processes, and coordinating with the Provost Office.

• Assist the Director in the Oden Institute's strategic initiative in Computational Medicine, to include research, education, outreach, development, and innovation efforts, and to include working collaboratively with the Dell Medical School, Cockrell School of Engineering, College of Natural Sciences, and external partners. 

• Assist the Director in Oden Institute development efforts as they relate to strategic initiatives.

• Other duties as needed in support of Oden Institute strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree + two years of related experience.

• Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior leadership and manage relationships with various stakeholders, both internal and external.

• Familiarity with the structure and operations of higher education institutions, including an understanding of academic and administrative functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Education or a related field.

• 10+ years’ experience in leadership or administrative roles with a strong background in strategic planning.

• 10+ years’ experience in higher education.
