Position Summary:

Through strong accounting, risk and control knowledge, completes complex assignments for the Financial Accounting functions within the Financial Management and Planning (FMP) department. Provides guidance/consultation to customers and all levels of management on complex situations. Researches and responds through various forums to ad hoc requests for information from senior management, internal and external auditors, Board of Governors, other Reserve Banks and System entities, and other FMP units. Provides functional advice or training to others in FMP as well as other business areas. May also review and approve work of other analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

•Responsible for completing complex accounting assignments and projects. Processes, approves and/or validates transactions and ensures they are processed timely and accurately. Anticipates, interprets, and evaluates the effect of

financial transactions on the organization. Understands and processes complex accounting transactions and reviews complex transactions submitted by others.

• Reviews and researches unusual or notable changes in Bank-wide account

balances to ensure accuracy of financial reporting and communicates important changes to appropriate level of management. Ensures district compliance with related accounting policies and procedures.

•Participates in daily and monthly unit processes and the creation of quarterly and annual processes, financial statements, footnotes, and reporting. This may include functioning accurate journal entries, collecting data from a variety of sources, and completing account reconciliations in compliance with Bank policy for accounts owned by the unit.

• Maintains and creates flowcharts, narratives, and other control documentation for key financial processes. Assesses risks and controls in FMP areas and recommends changes to improve efficiency and/or controls. Develops or provides input on changes to written accounting policies and procedures.

• Participates in complex financial accounting related projects, which can include district and system level workgroups and may be cross-functional. This includes providing guidance to projects managers on items such as policy requirements, GAAP standards, risks or controls. May collect information for and respond to external and internal auditors. Leads projects as assigned.

• Completes analysis and summarizes impact of documents for senior management in FMP.

•For department and business areas, develops and conducts training related to areas of responsibility. Provides guidance and support to others for achievement of unit objectives.

• Participates in testing and implementation of new applications or maintenance releases.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience

Experience:

Five to eight years of experience in financial accounting preferred

Knowledge Areas:

· GAAP accounting

· Financial reporting and benefit, employer pension and lease accounting (FRC)

· Construction, software, impairment, and lease accounting (AM)

· COSO/SOX, experience with risks and internal controls, and systems, specifically knowledge of related best practices (FRC) accounting related modules

· Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

Technical Skills:

· Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite including Visio

· Experience with ERP systems, specifically accounting related modules

· Process improvements
