The below is a position with Weil-Mclain, a division of the Marley-Wylain Company.   Weil-McLain is an industry leading manufacturer of high efficiency, condensing boilers.   With a 140 year history coupled with innovation through digital solutions and climate conscious initiatives, we provide reliable comfort heating solutions for residential and commercial use.   

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact.  As the Planner, you will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the production planning function, including creation and maintenance of production orders, addressing material shortages, and labor utilization.  This hands-on position will analyze capacity and inventory and draw conclusions on how to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize cost.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Production Planning and Analysis
  • Reviews backlog and marketing forecasts in conjunction with planners and buyers to develop and execute production plans consistent with customer requirements and corporate objectives.
  • Perform schedule analyses, including critical path analyses and schedule issue identification and resolution.
  • Prepare and present analysis on schedule status and overall performance to schedule.

 

  1. System Support
    • Monitor in-plant transfer of materials to meet production standards.
    • Troubleshoot problem situations and coordinate the rearrangement of production schedules with affected departments to supply required assemblies and subassemblies at the proper time
    • Compensate for raw material shortages, failure of vendors to deliver, rush order priorities and possible equipment failure.
    • Communicate with facilities outside the plant that are a part of the company to ensure internal customer needs are being met.
    • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for operations to assist in resolution of order promising, customer delivery difficulties, and demand versus supply conflicts.

 

  1. Continuous Improvement
    • Drive improvements in the overall process efficiencies and communications to key stakeholders.
    • Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and potential solutions that enable the business.
    • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 3 to 5 years in a planning role.

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior planning experience in Manufacturing Operations.
  • Prior production scheduling experience
  • Experience with JD Edwards
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Collaborative mindset, with proven ability to work cross functionally.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field
  • APICS Certification preferred.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Office environment with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
  • Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas.
