Marsh McLennan is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to join our Payroll Operations department based in Louisville, KY. We are also open to candidates in Indianapolis, Nashville and Charlotte.
Senior Payroll Tax Analyst

We will count on you to:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of tax payments for US and Canadian tax withholdings and unemployment taxes, including periodic tax amendments.
- Lead the reconciliation of Federal/State/Local, and/or Provincial tax authorities using Workday and ADP SmartCompliance payroll software.
- Correct reconciliation errors where needed and prepare/file amended returns as necessary.
- Research and respond to State and Local tax agency tax notices. Research and respond to complex inquiries related to payroll taxes, deductions and wage withholdings.
- Tax team leadership on special projects as required, including: acquisitions, mergers and divestments, internal and external audits, and W2 and W2c balancing.
- Assist with reporting requirements for: Department of Labor Reporting, Multiple Worksite Reporting, and Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Ensure documentation of Payroll Tax SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) is maintained and updated periodically.
- Ensure day-to-day maintenance through maker/checker and leveraging ServiceNow queue.
- Report concerns to Sr. Payroll Manager when issues are identified and/or escalated.
- Ensure consistency in work flow and organizing of folders within team.
- Utilize data and reporting from case management system to ensure SLAs (Service Level Agreements) are met and/or exceeded.
- Communicate effectively with teams across HR Services to ensure customer service SLAs are met and/or exceeded.
What you need to have:
- 3-5 years of progressive payroll tax /payroll operations experience.
- Exceptional customer service skills and mindset.
- Strong problem solving and possesses the ability to work independently.
- Requires strong communication (written & oral), organization, and customer service skills.
What makes you stand out?
- 5+ years of payroll tax support experience across multiple states (7 states or more) /jurisdictions
- Experience with Federal/State payroll tax audit data collection and response
- Payroll certification a plus
- Associate Degree preferred or equivalent work experience in a corporate environment
- Strong knowledge of HRMS (i.e. Workday) and case management software (i.e. ServiceNow) preferred
