About the role

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager and Project Management Office (PMjO) Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This is a hybrid position based out of Alexandria, VA with occasional telework.  The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton’s United States Coast Guard (USCG) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) program. This program is an enterprise IT delivery service and is executed to bring innovation and modernization to the USCG enterprise IT environment, within a managed service business model. The USCG enterprise encompasses an extensive range of IT infrastructure services and has unique solution challenges to meet their mission needs.

 

The Senior Technical Project Manager and PMO Lead will have both people management and process owner responsibilities to enable the delivery of project management services.  The applicant will manage day-to-day PMO operations and use multiple project management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Scrum, and waterfall) to efficiently manage and deliver a portfolio of projects.  The portfolio of projects delivers new capabilities and processes to transform and modernize the USCG infrastructure environment and improve enterprise IT service management.  In addition, the applicant will manage various technical projects, as assigned, to support delivery of contract requirements and services.

 

What you’ll do:

 

The Senior Technical Project Manager and PMO Lead will be responsible for the following but not limited to: 

  • Performs as the functional lead for all project management activities, including both people management and process owner responsibilities.
  • Manage day-to-day PMO operations, including developing policies and process; managing people resources; managing demand and future project pipeline; tracking the project portfolio; and ensuring quality assurance. 
  • Manages project management staff and collaborates with other functional leads (e.g., engineers, developers, architects) to initiate, plan, execute, and close projects.
  • Delivers projects using various project management methodologies, including waterfall and agile.
  • Applies strong leadership and communication skills to conduct periodic project reviews.
  • Mentors and coaches a team of technical project managers.
  • Ensures all projects are properly documented and required project artifacts are delivered to the customer on time.
  • Develops and maintains project templates to standardize delivery.
  • Leads and facilitates both internal and customer project status meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with client specific project management lifecycle processes, including managing project governance, engineering technical reviews, and project artifacts.
  • Serves as a technical project manager and primary Government interface for assigned projects.
  • Directs all phases of the project management lifecycle for assigned projects from project initiation through project closure, including all project documentation and artifacts.
  • Defines project scope, objectives, and/or outcomes verified against contractual and customer requirements.
  • Manages matrixed project team for assigned projects, to include technical resources, and provides direction to complete project related tasks, activities, artifacts, deliverables, etc.
  • Manages client related project communications and provides regular verbal and written project status updates.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews for project deliverables.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • 12 years of experience, may have supervisory or management experience 
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have active Public Trust clearance
  • Experience leading a PMO and managing a portfolio of projects for an enterprise managed service program in support of a Government agency
  • Experience and ability to direct and manage the work of assigned project staff, including individual contributors in technical positions and/or entry level professionals
  • Experience with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with project management related software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work well with others.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro required.
