Job Description:
Goodwill Industries of the Columbia is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist. This position is responsible for accounts payable functions of Goodwill and provides support to the Vice President of Finance regarding the financial record keeping and regulatory reporting requirements of Goodwill.
What will you do in this job?
- Demonstrate proficiency in accrual accounting practices.
- Accurately receives and records cash, checks and EFT’s.
- Maintain the accuracy of vendor information.
- Verifying and processing invoices for approval and posting.
- Accurately post and reconcile credit card charges.
- Maintains and balances the accounts payable ledger.
- Maintaining and updating routine payables (rent, mortgage payments, GII dues etc.)
- Facilitate timely payment of payables.
- Maintains outstanding check report and performs due diligence.
- Maintaining 1099 information and preparing the annual report.
- Provides special reports as requested by executive staff.
- Responsible for the accuracy, organized filing, and safeguarding of all accounts payable.
- Performs all duties in a timely, organized and efficient manner.
- Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality keeping private all Human Resource and Payroll information.
- Follows all security policies and procedures to protect against injury, theft and misuse of company-owned property and information.
- Keep immediate supervisor informed of any problems or unusual situations and/or actions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting rate: $23.00 followed by eligibility for annual performance-based increases with maximum pay of $25.88. Highest pay as a result of ongoing good performance and years of service.

- If 18 years or older, eligibility to participate in a Retirement Savings Plan (401k or Roth IRA) at the entry dates (January 1st or July 1st). Enrollment eligibility following one year of service and have worked 1,000 hours in the first year or any calendar year thereafter, or 500-1000 hours each year for three consecutive years.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, hourly position. Days and hours are dependent on business needs, but will occur primarily Monday through Friday.

Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license, good driving record, ability to provide own transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance.
Accuracy in data input, attention to detail and organization required.
Have excellent verbal and written skills in languages representative of the community being served
Have intermediate level or better computer skills which include Excel, Outlook, Word, and internet use.
Enjoy working both independently and in teams, and having a variety of tasks in your day
Post-secondary degree and one year of accounts payable experience or equivalent accounting experience in accrual accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and use of accounting software.
