Job Description

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

 

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is part of a dedicated, fast-paced EH&S team working on-site in the Grace manufacturing plant.

 

The Specialist is highly visible and plays an important role supporting a wide range of critical EH&S functions. The health and safety of our employees, customers, community, and the environment is our top priority at Grace.

 

The EH&S Specialist interacts with plant personnel, site management, outside contractors and vendors.  They are integral to our ongoing “Goal to Zero” safety philosophy and a key contributor to Grace’s Safety Culture!

 

The EH&S Specialist is on-site in Tyrone, PA and reports to the EH&S Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily plant inspections and reviews to ensure all work permits, safety policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Develop, review and maintain Safety Policies in compliance with Corporate Policies
  • Responsible for the site’s Emergency Response Teams (Hazwoper, Medical First Responder, Confined Space Rescue, and Fire Brigade)
  • Develop and lead special Safety Projects for the site including required Corporate Initiatives
  • Responsible for conducting incident investigations from beginning to end, including report documentation.
  • Responsible for managing site contractors, including security, to ensure proper training and safety policies and procedures are being following.
  • Assemble and lead one of the site’s four safety teams by scheduling monthly meetings, producing written meeting notes, and hosting an end-of-year meeting/meal with a power point presentation.
  • Represent the EHS Department by participating in all Pre-Start Safety Reviews (PSSRs), Process Hazard Analysis Meetings (PHAs), and New Process Overviews
  • Responsible for daily inspection and review of site fire suppression system
  • Daily, monthly and annual reviews of site fire suppression systems, PPE selection, and other EHS systems at the site.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years safety management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others to create a positive safety culture.
