Senior Manager – Payer Relations, Market Access (PRMA) – BD Interventional
The Senior Manager – Payer Relations, Market Access (PRMA) is a very important customer-facing role that will work closely with the Senior Director, Market Access and Payment Policy to focus on the priority payer engagement needs of BD’s Surgery, Peripheral Intervention and Urology and Critical Care businesses, which sit within BD’s Interventional Segment. The Senior Manager is required to establish new or revise existing coverage policies leading to enhanced market access for priority products within BD’s Interventional portfolio. The Senior Manager is the key contact responsible for local market access and payer relations related matters across the U.S. and will have responsibility for leading the engagement and building relationships with identified regional payers (both public and private). In addition, this role will partner with the commercial teams around key opinion leader development, and customer engagement strategies to remove any reimbursement barriers to product adoption. This position will be field based (flexible location near a major airport).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sr. Manager, PRMA, will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the access and coverage landscape for priority products and communicate and explain to internal partners payer policy updates or system changes that impact product market access in assigned payer accounts.
Partner with Market Access and Marketing leaders within our Interventional (BDI) businesses to build strategic market access and reimbursement strategy and tools based on segment/franchise business objectives that will result in expanding favorable reimbursement positions for BD products. Focus on gaining coverage/adoption of key technologies with regional commercial health plans, and State Medicaid Agencies
Work cross functionally with key account teams and regional sales leadership in assigned areas to build alliances with key leaders with vision for targeted payer engagements, address any practice or facility specific reimbursement challenges and identify areas of partnership supporting current and future BD products
Develop working relationships with state societies, associations, and industry groups, as needed, to support patient access and raise overall awareness of BD's products
Ensure appropriate, compliant execution of the Market Access strategy covering the launch of any future products; specifically, field implementation of HUB services at customer accounts
Exercise sound judgment and oversight to ensure integrity and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as corporate policies in all activities and communication
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
BA/BS degree required
3-5 years of relevant medical device market access experience required
Track record of contributing to growth through shaping favorable payment pathways and securing reimbursement status for health care products
Strong understanding of market access pathways in the US
Prior customer facing account management experience, both payer as well as key accounts
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers at payers, key accounts, trade associations, and medical societies
Existing relationships with key payer decision makers within region is strongly preferred
Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight and direction, to anticipate needs from leadership and other collaborators, and to balance multiple and often diverse priorities to align on a strategic and appropriate plan
Ability to communicate effectively and lead without authority
Analytical, problem solving and persuasive abilities to develop and implement regional plans
