GPS/Telematics Technician - Wakefield, VA

Job Purpose:
The GPS/Telematics Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting GPS tracking systems and vehicle camera equipment across our fleet.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct reports.
Essential Functions:
•Install and configure GPS tracking devices, dash cameras, and telematics hardware in fleet vehicles.
•Diagnose and repair issues related to GPS units, vehicle cameras, and associated wiring.
•Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on telematics systems.
•Collaborate with fleet managers and drivers to identify and resolve equipment issues.
•Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and system configurations.
•Ensure all installations meet company standards and safety regulations.
•Provide technical support and training to drivers and staff on system usage.
•Stay current with telematics technologies and recommend system improvements.
•Travel to fleet locations as needed to perform installations and repairs.
•Operate independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and strong self-management skills
Competencies:
•Proven experience with GPS and camera system installation and repair.
•Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and wiring diagrams.
•Ability to use diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Travel Requirements:
•Frequent travel
Required education and experience:
•High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
•Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred education and experience:
•Experience with Motive telematics systems is a strong plus.
•Familiarity with other platforms such as Geotab, Samsara, or Verizon Connect.
•Basic networking and IT troubleshooting knowledge.
•Experience working with commercial fleets or transportation companies.
