Overview
A well-established acute-care hospital in the Frankfort region is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead a high-volume Emergency Department. The ED includes 28 beds, manages 35,000–45,000 visits annually, and is supported by 60–65 FTEs within a Level III Trauma environment.
This role requires a dynamic, metrics-driven nursing leader skilled at operational excellence, patient throughput, service-line growth, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Responsibilities
Quality & Clinical Excellence
  • Advance patient safety and quality outcomes through evidence-based practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee standards of care, clinical variation reduction, and adherence to accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor equipment readiness and ensure safe, efficient emergency operations.
  • Direct patient flow, volume forecasting, and coordination for optimal throughput.
Service & Patient Experience
  • Lead initiatives to elevate patient satisfaction and service quality.
  • Utilize feedback channels to improve performance and service delivery.
  • Execute strategic plans that enhance patient experience and emergency care outcomes.
People & Leadership
  • Create an engaged team culture aligned with mission, vision, and values.
  • Identify staff development needs and provide coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing clinical and operational talent.
Growth & Strategic Development
  • Collaborate with administrative and medical leaders to enhance or expand service lines.
  • Identify opportunities for new programs, technologies, or operational improvements.
  • Drive initiatives that support organizational growth and competitive differentiation.
Finance & Operations
  • Participate in the budgeting process, including forecasting, staffing needs, and capital planning.
  • Manage labor resources effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing and productivity.
  • Oversee supply and equipment utilization to control expenses and identify cost- saving opportunities.
  • Monitor performance trends and implement action plans to address gaps.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Active RN license.
  • Minimum 1+ year of applicable emergency or leadership experience.
  • Proven performance with measurable metrics, operational achievements, and process improvements.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree (MSN, MBA, MHA, or related).
  • 3+ years of emergency services leadership in a comparable or larger ED setting.
  • Experience in high-volume Emergency Departments (35k+ annual visits).
