SRO - Principal Engineer

This full-time opportunity is based at the Westinghouse Headquarters in Cranberry Township, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.  This position is hybrid requiring 2 days/week on-site.  We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future, as we are not able to sponsor visas. Please note relocation assistance is not provided for this position. 

 

Your Day-to-Day:

When you join the NucOps team, you'll find a career that's as dynamic as it is diverse. The Nuclear Operations team offers a unique blend of office work and some activities in the field.

• In the office, our operations team collaborates with plant designers and system engineers to define the best and safest way to operate nuclear plants.
• You will acquire knowledge about integrated plant operations to develop or update the way control room operators run plants with operating procedures.
• You will then validate various scenarios in control room simulators, before they are implemented in plants worldwide.
• Your scope will include the operating fleet (integrating operating experience and new scenarios) and the next generation of nuclear plants (SMRs and microreactors), giving you learning and development opportunities in both worlds.  

Who You Are:

As an ideal candidate, you'll bring the following qualifications and characteristics to our team:

• Work Experience: Someone who held an SRO/RO operator license or was a qualified SRO/RO instructor or someone with extensive new plant testing role (preop and startup testing). Prior operating procedure writing experience will be favorably considered.
• Top Performer: Someone who demonstrates excellence and stands apart from your peers. Someone who performs well under pressure and can easily integrate multiple inputs from many stakeholders.

Team Overview

The Nuclear Operations (NucOps) team at Westinghouse is an industry leader supporting operating nuclear power plants worldwide, including Control Room Operators, Operating Procedure Writers and Reactor Engineers. Once you join us, you will be working on the new generation of reactors like the AP300 SMR and eVinci microreactor, the new fleet of AP1000® and the operating fleet from all over the world. Building up your skills based on actual operating plant experience combined with advanced plant design will be a major accelerator for your career in the nuclear industry.

 

NucOps has supported the commissioning of PWRs since the beginning of the commercial nuclear power industry and plays a vital role in plant operations today.
