In this role, you will provide network engineering test support to NIWC Pacific Code 55111 to fulfill PMA-268 Unmanned Carrier Aviation (UCA) requirements, focused on testing the UCA end to end transport network. As a UCA C4I network test engineer, you will develop test plans and test procedures to verify and validate network requirements for the Navy’s newest unmanned system, the MQ-25A Stingray to include routing, switching, firewall filtering, and in-line network encryption for on-aircraft in-flight and ground-based networking and data transport.
This includes developing test procedures and testing configurations for Cisco-based routers and switches, Juniper based routers, TACLANE Type-1 encryptors, and Linux-based firewalls, participating in Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), and peer reviews on test procedures, the execution of developed test plans on end-to-end networks, and providing support for various test events conducted by PMA-268. The MQ-25A Stingray, has a primary mission of aerial refueling and a secondary capability to provide Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) all while being launched and recovered from an aircraft carrier.
Requirements
- Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher.
- Technical experience at the systems level in DoD projects.
- 8+ years' experience in network architecture and deployment.
- 8+ years' experience in designing and implementing sophisticated computer networks.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in network engineering.
- At least 2-3 years of experience with configuration of OSPF, PIM, IGMP, VRRP, and IPSec (as implemented with HAIPE devices.)
- An understanding of network security best practices.
- An understanding of RHEL iptables.
- An understanding of the use and configuration of encryption devices (KG-175D, KG-175F, KG-175N.)
- Hold active Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent level of vendor certifications.
- Hold active CompTIA Security+ or CCNA Security, or higher certification (e.g., CISSP.)
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision on assigned tasks.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive)
- Develop and implement test plans and test procedures for routers, switches, iptables, and/or in-line network encryptors for network transport equipment in accordance with sponsor interface control documents and network architecture standards.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve network problems and anomalies during test events.
- Write formal documentation for all UCA C4I run test events including Test Plans and Test Reports.
- Evaluate and test emerging network technologies to ensure compatibility with existing designs.
- Participate in test readiness reviews and peer reviews and contribute technical feedback to peers.
- Participate in technical exchanges and develop solutions to test with aircraft and ground control station vendor systems.
- Report status and recommendations to the UC
