Salary Range for US Based Staff: $69,329 - $81,563

Job Summary:

Special Olympics Inc. (SOI) is an international NGO serving almost 4 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in over 170 countries and jurisdictions. While best known for sports opportunities, SOI offers a vast array of health interventions and collects and maintains the largest database in the world on the health of people with intellectual disabilities. Our health interventions include Healthy Athletes (health care assessments and care coordination), Healthy Communities (community-based health promotion and disease prevention programming and partnerships), Young Athletes (early childhood intervention), Health Messengers (training and activating people with IDD to be health advocates), training of health professionals (reach of more than 130,000 since 2016), and health systems strengthening for inclusive health (partnerships and advocacy to help health systems include people with IDD).

This position will contribute to work to make health-related services, programming, and policies more inclusive of people with IDD and promote the leadership of people with IDD.

Reporting to the Senior Director for Global Inclusive Health Advocacy, the Senior Manager will be a key asset in promoting inclusive health in the United States and other parts of North America, while also supporting global projects.

This role will be expected to be primarily in-person, at SOI’s headquarters office in Washington, DC.

As part of a global team based in Central European Time and Central African Time zones, the incumbent should be prepared to be available for calls at 8am US Eastern Time an average of twice per week.

 

Responsibilities:

Oversight of the Center for Inclusive Health and System Change in Inclusive Health Subgrants (25%)

· Provide supervision to Manager, Inclusive Health in their core responsibilities related to implementing the workplans for the Center for Inclusive Health and System Change in Inclusive Health subgrants

· Oversee development of subgrant cycle timeline and any needed updates to subgrant announcement and application materials

· Participate in review/analysis/selection of subgrant proposals

· Oversee administrative aspects of subgrants, including grant management system and financial and narrative reporting.

 

Management of US projects (55%)

· Serve as point of contact and project manager for core portfolio of an estimated 3-5 projects related SOI’s health system strengthening portfolio in the US, including leading and overseeing procurement, contract, and payment processes for consultants and contractors

· Provide auxiliary support on US projects outside of the core portfolio

· Work closely and cross-functionally with Special Olympics North America (SONA), SOI Health, and other colleagues

· Support development of operational planning, budgets, reports, and partner/donor presentations

Support to global projects (20%)

· Support planning and preparation for meetings with external groups, such as the Health System Strengthening Advisory Committee

· Contribute to cross-site activities related to Rosemary Collaboratory (e.g., development of Requests for Proposals, data review and visualization)

· Provide general support to global projects

Qualifications:

Required

· A relevant university degree (e.g., public health, health sciences, public policy/public administration)

· At least 5 years of professional experience

· Sound understanding of/experience working in/with the US health system (e.g., community health centers, private providers, legislative or executive bodies relating to health care policy, NGOs providing health or health-related services)
