The Executive Director, National Accounts, is responsible for driving profitable patient access with the large national payer organizations and their largest downstream regional account clients. Collaborating with senior leaders in market access, therapeutic areas, insight, access strategy, finance, and medical affairs to align approaches to our largest customers. The Executive Director, National Accounts, will lead a team of very experienced individuals who engage with the C suite in these organizations to develop key relationships, negotiate contracts, secure medical policies and pharmacy policies that maximize patient access and ensure that the clinical and financial value of our products are fully understood.
Additionally, the Executive Director, National Accounts, is primarily responsible for the implementation of strategies that maximize access and profit within each account. Coordinating and leading our approach at National Payer Accounts, along with their largest regional clients for the entire REGN product portfolio. Responsible for the national customer team budget for assigned national accounts and ensuring alignment with strategic and financial objectives of the overall business. Collaborate closely with Therapeutic Areas, Market Access, Medical, Corporate Affairs and all internal stakeholders to maximize the value of our REGN portfolio.
The Executive Director, National Accounts will:
- Lead the team to develop and execute a negotiation strategy customized to the market access business environment, to help Regeneron maximize its access and profits
- Ensures this strategy fits within broader Regeneron sales goals and strategies, and is properly cascaded throughout the function
- Monitors developments among government plans and private insurers to build strategies that will enable Regeneron to anticipate and respond to market events.
- Employs expertise of the managed market area, along with collected market data, to support and influence the development of the broader sales and marketing strategy
- In collaboration with Therapeutic Area Senior Leaders, sets access and price targets for Senior Directors, National Account Directors and National Account Managers
- Mentors and guides Senior Directors and National Account Directors to build strong, networked relationships throughout customer organizations, and develop/strengthen key relationships with account senior management and decision makers
- Troubleshoots particularly challenging opportunities with Senior Directors, National Account Directors and National Account Managers; including but not limited to proactively respond to and resolve identified issues and challenges at accounts
- Oversees contracting negotiations within GOA guidelines, troubleshooting and coaching as needed. Knowledge of/familiarity with Market Access resources/processes
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA in marketing or other relevant field preferred
- 17+ years pharmaceutical or relevant industry experience
- Sales leadership experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the various areas within market access
- Extensive experience in contracting/negotiations
- Ability to form and sustain relationships across a customer organization
- Ability to facilitate, integrate and deliver multiple corporate resources to customers
- Thorough understanding of market dynamics across multiple therapeutic areas and across various business segments
- Account management experience with a demonstrated proficiency for contracting and marketing
- History of performance in achieving business objectives
- Marketing experience considered a plus (but marketing aptitude mandatory)
- Proven track record of managing large teams and making appropriate tradeoffs to meet business objectives
