Summary
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state's renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology.
The incumbent will provide the enforcement patrol component in support of major programs for fish, game, wildlife, ecosystem and boating safety regulations for the protections and sustainability of wildlife/fisheries resources and public safety; and, to serve as a parish coordinator for enforcement operational/patrol within an assigned district or statewide specialized enforcement unit.

Examples of duties
Six months of experience in wildlife conservation law enforcement.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Possession of a current driver's license.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
NOTE:
This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more), walk long distances, work in harsh weather conditions, fire handguns, rifles, and shotguns accurately and have the ability to operate vehicles, boats, and all-terrain vehicles while in the performance of duties.

Job Duties:- Patrol public/private land and waters.
- Investigate and conduct law enforcement activities designed to impact natural resource conservation, protection and management objectives, and to provide public safety services.
- Investigate violations through surveillance and by developing information sources such as informants.
- Provide general police protection for citizens and visitors who utilize Louisiana's lands, waterways, and wildlife/fish resources.
- Identify and apprehend suspected violators.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational
Location: Natchitoches Parish
Compensation: The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.A Driver's License is required.
Shift Differential: This position is eligible for a shift differential in addition to the base hourly rate when scheduled to work designated evening, night, weekend, or other qualifying shifts. The applicable differential is subject to LDWF's current compensation policies.
Overtime as necessary.
