Hourly Wage: The Personal Trainer/Fitness Attendant is a split wage position. When working the fitness floor, interacting with customers, and selling personal training, it will be as an Attendant with a wage of $14.20/hr. When conducting a scheduled personal training session, it will be as a Personal Trainer with a wage of $24.00/hr.

Scope of Position:
The Personal Trainer-I will be responsible for designing safe and appropriate exercise programs for members as they participate in fitness and sports programs. The Personal Trainer-I will conduct one-on-one fitness training, group fitness training, and class-sized fitness instruction for clients as assigned by the Sports and Fitness Coordinator. The activities of the members and guests they oversee will take place in all fitness spaces along with any meeting rooms and the natatorium as assigned by the Sports and Fitness Coordinator.
The Personal Trainer-I will clock in as a Fitness/Gym Attendant when not currently engaged in a personal training appointment. When clocked in as a Fitness/Gym Attendant employee will complete fitness equipment orientations & fitness assessments, clean the fitness area, preform tours, use our POS system, design fitness programs, and ensure the safe exercise/equipment operation of all facility members and guests.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Professional: The person in this position must have the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The person in this position must be able to cultivate teamwork both in the fitness department and the facility as a whole. They must also be able to work with supervision and in a team setting with other professionals. Must be able to exercise good judgment and be comfortable working with members and guests of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
Equipment Used: The following equipment is used on either a daily, weekly, or monthly basis: Telephone, computer fax/copy machines, and computer time sheet.
Familiar with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, and internet.
This position must have a good understanding of all fitness, weight and cardio equipment and their proper use and instruction.
