We are currently hiring a Brewer at the Samuel Adams Boston Taproom in Boston, MA
Based at the Samuel Adams Boston Taproom, this role is responsible for making beer with emphasis on industry-leading safety and quality standards.

What You'll Brew:
- Responsible for daily management and execution of the brewing process in accordance with Boston Beer Safety and Quality standards, including brewing and packaging on the R&D system for new product development, optimization, and ingredient trials.
- Manage sanitation of all beer production areas to ensure compliance with company GMP guidelines. This includes proper sanitation of all processing equipment and adherence to brewery-wide safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
- Assist with formulation and brewing of recipes to ensure adherence to specification and performance targets, including collaborative and individual recipe development as assigned.
- Participate in sensory panels, including but not limited to daily panel, tetrads, and DFC, and educate tasting room coworkers on attributes of new products.
- Competent in all brewing functions related to raw materials, brewhouse, fermentation, aging, cold processing, packaging, and utilities. This includes conducting, recording, and interpreting standard beer quality analysis with support from BBC Quality Assurance team, as well as performing routine analytical lab work and in-process checks.
- Identify and flag basic utility (water, air, CO₂, steam, glycol) and process equipment issues and escalate to Brewing Manager and/or BBC Engineering team. Participate in regular process reviews and troubleshooting activities.
- Consistently support BBC culture development. Internally includes communication and supporting training efforts; externally includes public interaction via brewery tours, beer events/tastings, and occasional supplier visits or ingredient evaluations (travel 5–10%).
- Collaborate with other BBC members and cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Packaging, Maintenance) to achieve common goals and ensure taproom goals are being achieved.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Team to ensure safe and effective running of all equipment and the facility in general, including routine equipment maintenance.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks as required, and support light shipping/receiving duties as needed.
Complete other related duties and tasks as assigned, including occasional project work directed by the Head Brewer or Brewing Manager.
What Ingredients You'll Bring:
Required: HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience
Desired: 4 Year /Bachelor's Degree- BS in Brewing Science, Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering, Brewers Diploma/Certification, or equivalent experience
Desired Experience:
- Product development in beverage alcohol at scale
- Comprehensive understanding of traditional and non-traditional brewing ingredients, their usage, and effect on beer sensory attributes.
- Formal sensory training (BBC, Aroxa, FlavorActiv) or Cicerone certification.
- Experience with DOE, SPC and data interpretation
- ProLeit BrewMaxx or Braukon automation platform operation and navigation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly
- Regular walking and standing for long periods of time (up to 11 hours a day) on concrete, metal and grated surfaces
- While performing the duties of this role, it may be required to climb flights of stairs, work from heights or on elevated platforms
- Agile enough to step over, crouch or crawl under
- Established dexterity to:
- Handle materials
- Operate equipment
- Interface with computer systems with precision
Level: 8
At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $49,000 and $92,000. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
