Senior Cobol Developer  

 

 

We are GDIT. The people supporting and securing some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the country.  We are currently seeking a seasoned Mainframe Cobol Developer to support application processing requirements. 

At GDIT, people are our Differentiator. You will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. The Senior Cobol Developer will:

•  Modify test data or create new test data to ensure successful results of modifications to program code 

• Perform/ensure in-depth testing of software occurs including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing 

• Participate in the setup and support of the production environment Troubleshoot problems that may arise getting to the root cause to facilitate solving the problems 

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues 

• Thoroughly document code changes and defects 

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:  

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. 

• Required:  5+ years of programming in a COBOL/DB2/CICS mainframe environment, working knowledge and understanding of DB2, SQL, JCL, CICS 

​Technical Skills & Knowledge 

Mainframe Technologies: Expertise in IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), DB2, IMS DB/DC, VSAM. 

Batch Processing: Strong knowledge of batch job execution, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting. 

Healthcare & Medicare-Specific Data Processing:  

Experience in handling Medicare claims (CMS-1500, UB-04, HIPAA 837P, 837I) 

Working knowledge of Medicare Enrollment (CMS-855) and Eligibility Verification (270/271 transactions) 

Familiarity with RA (Remittance Advice) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
