Internship Dates

  • Start Date: May 28, 2025
  • End Date: August 8, 2025
  • Intern Summit in Denver: June 10 - 12

What You'll Do

Over your 10-week paid internship, our Accounting and Financial Operations Intern will play a crucial role in supporting our finance team by handling a variety of tasks. They will prepare monthly journal entries and assist with account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy. Their responsibilities will include processing accounts payable, generating general ledger close reports, and compiling other essential accounting reports. They will also contribute to quarterly financial reporting by performing tie-outs, quality reviews, and maintaining checklists. Additionally, the intern will support the processing and reporting of benefit plans, patronage transactions, and financial instruments. This internship offers hands-on experience in financial operations and provides an opportunity to develop a strong foundation in accounting practices.

This role is hybrid, interns will come into their designated office at least 4 days a week.

Interns work approximately 40-hours per week.

Compensation Information

  • Bachelor's Student: $21.00/hour
  • Master's Student: $25.00/hour
  • Summer Stipend: $3,500

Essential Functions

  • Assists in recording monthly close journal entries for various revenue and expense accounts as well as balance sheet accounts, and any other entry needed to properly complete the month-end financials
  • Works with internal suppliers of information to ensure accuracy of journal entries and schedules
  • Coordinates monthly reconciliation and maintenance of asset, liability and equity accounts
  • Assists with tax filings, accounts receivables and accounts payables
  • Assists with external financial reporting and management reporting
  • Also helps with financial planning and analysis
  • Helps comply with regulatory and tax requirements

Education

  • Currently enrolled in and working towards a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline and in good academic standing
  •  While rising seniors will be given priority, we will consider rising juniors

Work Experience

Other Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of balance sheets, income statements and cash flows
  • Willingness to learn accounting and reporting information systems
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills in Excel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Aptitude for learning other software applications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in agriculture, banking, or financial services industry
