About the role

Job Overview: 

This role serves as a vital liaison for a diverse range of laboratory customers. The responsibilities include procuring high-quality specimens from adult, geriatric, pediatric, and infant patients for diagnostic testing, adhering to CLIA, TJC, and CAP standards. Additionally, the position may involve performing EKGs on outpatients.

The role entails managing customer interactions, including making and receiving calls, gathering necessary service and billing data, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues. Accurate documentation in compliance with OIG guidelines is essential, as is the interpretation and transcription of physician orders and LIS/HIS order entry. This role may also involve receiving incoming specimens, entering patient demographics and test orders using LIS/HIS systems, labeling specimens, and distributing them to the appropriate lab departments for testing.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • No equivalent experience accepted in lieu of a degree
  • 1–2 years of experience in Phlebotomy

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties following established processes and protocols, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and sample integrity.
  • Accurately document information within expected timeframes.
  • Ensure specimen integrity by obtaining proper patient identification and accurate data during collection.
  • Take on complex tasks when requested and proactively address needs as they arise.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and timeliness throughout the collection process.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Requirements: Climbing (occasionally), kneeling (occasionally), lifting 50+ lbs.(rarely), and lifting 11–50 lbs. (frequently).
  • Environment: Consistent use of hands, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and visual acuity (near and far) in day-to-day activities.
  • Mental Focus: Continuous learning, concentrated thinking, interpersonal communication, and reasoning required frequently.
