Our Director of Security at The Modern plans, directs, and coordinates all safety, security, and loss prevention activities for the property, ensuring the protection of company assets, guests, owners, and team members. This role establishes and maintains a proactive security program that supports a safe, secure, and welcoming environment while ensuring compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, organize and direct all security and loss prevention operations for the property.
- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and leads security team members; manages performance, coaching, and development
- Conducts routine and random inspections of the property to identify and mitigate safety, fire, and security risks.
- Monitors property activity and proactively address suspicious behavior or potential threats.
- Investigates incidents including accidents, injuries, theft, property loss, and policy violations; prepares detailed reports and recommendations.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA & ADA standards and all local, state, and federal safety regulations; maintains accurate documentation.
- Chairs and leads the Safety Committee; drives safety culture, engagement, and awareness initiatives.
- Develops, implements, and continuously improves emergency response and evacuation procedures; ensures leadership readiness.
- Coordinates and facilitates safety training programs including fire safety, CPR/First Aid, chemical safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Oversee key control, access management, and lost and found processes to protect company assets.
- Tracks and analyzes incident, injury, and loss trends; prepares and distributes reports for leadership.
- Serves as liaison with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency response agencies.
- Supports general liability and workers’ compensation processes in partnership with leadership and corporate teams.
- Oversee parking and traffic operations, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
- Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as required.

- Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.

To fulfill this role efficiently, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
- Associate’s degree or, in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma, and 5+ years of Security Management in Hotel Setting
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 1 month of employment
- Valid Driver’s License and State of Hawaii (Security) Guard Card at time of employment
- 5+ years of related experience, preferably in a hotel or resort setting
- 5+ Years Managerial experience
