Senior DevOps Engineer

About the team:

Team Coalition is an automation-first cloud based DevOps team. Our goals include maximizing developer productivity through fine-tuned CI/CD pipelines, automated and scalable infrastructure, and robust systems monitoring. We promote a highly collaborative atmosphere, both within our team, as well as across the other teams within CB Insights. We believe continuous learning and adherence to the DevOps philosophy are the keys to success.

The role you’ll play:

• Provide expertise and take ownership over all aspects of the Datadog implementation
• Collaborate with and mentor delivery teams to improve observability, alerting and response to service outages and/or errors.
• Provide tools and an environment to support efficient software development
• Assist and collaborate in building highly-available cloud-based systems, scaling across multiple regions and availability zones
• Support and monitor our applications and infrastructure across both production and development environments
• Be part of the 24x7 on-call rotation

What you bring to the table:

• College degree required, CS degree preferred
• 5+ years experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS) with a DevOps focus
• 5+ years systems administration (Linux strongly preferred)
• 3+ years experience with monitors, metrics, logging, and tracing in a Microservices environment (Python/Go)
• 3+ years experience with Datadog, having rolled out and managed implementations across large number of microservices
• 3+ years experience with log aggregation technologies such as ELK stack
• 3+ years experience with on-call management tools such as PagerDuty, VictorOps, or OpsGenie
• In-depth knowledge of Observability techniques in a Kubernetes environment
• Hands-on experience with AWS RDS MySql and/or Postgres
• Scripting experience (Bash/Python); programming background strongly preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with container technology (Docker highly preferred)
• Experience with microservice architecture is a big plus

Please note this is a US-based role.

In addition to base salary, this role is also eligible for a bonus opportunity.

A little bit about our pay practices: Typically, we will hire at our Hiring Target, but actual starting pay may be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation, candidate experience, and budgetary constraints.

Compensation$126,000—$159,600 USD
