SUMMARY OF THE ROLE 

NextDecade is seeking a full-time Manager Asset Integrity and Mechanical to support long-term operations for the Rio Grande LNG facility located near Brownsville, Texas. The position is based in Brownsville; however, it may require travel to and from Houston. The incumbent will report to the Sr Manager, Facilities Engineering in the Operations Department, under the leadership of the Sr Director of Engineering and Vice President of Operations. The Manager Asset Integrity and Mechanical is a senior member of the facilities engineering team and may be required to backfill the Sr. Manager Facilities Engineering during periods of absence. The role has four (4) direct reports, as well as inspection contractors working within the team. Peer level personnel will include the Manager Instrument Control and Electrical, and the Manager Rotating Equipment  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the asset integrity and mechanical engineering team who are responsible for the following equipment, systems, and processes: 
  • Equipment: Condensate and LNG Loading arms, ship gangway system, fixed fire system equipment (e.g., monitors, deluge etc.), heat exchangers, pressure vessels, piping, manual valves, tanks, filters, Heating Ventilation and Air Condition (HVAC), flares, restriction orifices, pressure safety valves, check valves, hoses 
  • Systems and Processes: Risk based inspection, hose management, flange management, pressure equipment repair and fitness for service, welding and NDT, piping stress analysis, piping vibration management (including AIV/FIV), leak detection and repair program. 

  • Serve as Technical Authority (TA) for asset integrity and mechanical equipment ensuring:  
  • Barriers against major accident events are maintained.  
  • Barrier impairment risks are appropriately managed. 
  • Plant changes are managed appropriately (including evaluation and approval) 

  • Coordinate and provide fixed equipment mechanical engineering support for both day-to-day plant operations and long-term reliability and availability targets, including frontline response for mechanical issues and failures. 

  • Drive continuous improvement in fixed mechanical equipment (safety, cost, availability) through: 
  • Maintenance strategy optimization 
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis 
  • Bad actor analysis 
  • Management of Change 
  • Debottlenecking and efficiency optimization 

  • Drive the mechanical integrity (risk-based inspection) program to ensure a cost and risk optimized maintenance program for pressure equipment and piping, in compliance with regulatory requirements. Drive continuous improvement and use of technology to deliver the inspection program. Ensure the inspection contract is managed effectively. 
  • Define and implement QA/QC programs for fixed mechanical equipment maintenance. 
  • Prepare turnaround scopes and review all turnaround and maintenance workpacks. 
  • Develop and ensure adherence to all discipline specifications, standards, procedures, and guidelines. 
  • Provide integral interaction and support for other intercompany teams, such as Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Quality, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE). 

MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 
  • 15+ years of asset integrity, fixed equipment mechanical engineering and/or experience. 
  • 5+ years of asset integrity or mechanical engineering experience in an LNG or petrochemical operating facility.  
  • 3+ years of experience in Team Lead, Supervisor or Management positions
