Position Specific Description
Join the world’s leading generator of wind, solar, and battery energy as a Senior Technician at NextEra Energy. As a Senior Technician you will be the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind/solar/battery operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance, diagnostics, as well as long-term reliability and profitability. Additional duties may include:
- Implementing Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conducting field work in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) applicable regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture
- Participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects
- Recruiting and developing other technicians for the ongoing development of team
- Supporting site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, power generating equipment availability.
- Drive site project turnover from ROI team to operations team.
- Collaborating closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance
- Presenting a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with the customer
This role will require 100% travel inside the region and 50% travel outside of the regional. In this role you would be responsible 1/3 training new employees and 2/3 technician work - In this role, you will also be responsible for all site metrics including production, environmental and safety.
- You will be expected to move sites from ROI to operations within a 180 day timeframe.

Job Overview
Employees in this senior-level role are responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar generation equipment on multiple solar power plants to achieve safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. Successful candidates apply advanced knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components and equipment including the use of digital multi-meters, meggers, and amp clamps.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs corrective maintenance and repairs on solar and energy storage power generation equipment
- Conducts advanced electrical, electronic, and network troubleshooting
- Provides oversight to other personnel and acts as a Safety Mentor
- Serves as qualified reliever in the absence of site management
- Performs switching and grounding of medium and high voltage equipment
- Leads teams in Quality Improvement (QI) projects
- Documents work execution and field changes utilizing Maximo
- Completes special projects or complex task assignments
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Experience: 3+ years
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Equivalent Experience
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
The base pay for this position is $68,000.00 to $102,000.00 per year. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
