Our Product Design group is at the forefront of innovation, dedicated to enhancing the bond between pets and pet parents through the development of cutting-edge technologies in pet foods. We take pride in our commitment to quality, ensuring that our premium wet and dry products not only meet, but exceed the expectations of pet parents.
The Senior Scientist, Product Design located in Topeka, KS, will play a critical role in designing and executing studies of pet foods to elucidate drivers of pet preference and identify technologies to improve product performance. Position will be responsible for delivering projects to help support global growth and brand equity.
Key Responsibilities include:

Develop solutions that deliver against specified taste performance, nutrient delivery and product design requirements

Formulate experimental variables, managing pilot scale production, and determining testing to be carried out for multiple projects at any given time

Validate product performance through coordination & interpretation of product evaluations including analytical, palatability, sensory, and stability testing
This candidate will lead key research that focuses on pet preferences and developing technologies to improve product performance throughout the entire shelf life.
This position will work closely with product development, quality, supply chain, and ingredient procurement colleagues to ensure success.
Required qualifications:

MS in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Engineering or related field

Minimum 5 years of animal or food industry experience
Preferred qualifications:

PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Engineering or related field

Expertise in product stability with experience studying lipid oxidation in food products or pet food experience
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $106,000 - $126,000 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year).
