Overview
Under general supervision, the Research Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist will work within established human research protocols to perform phlebotomy, collect and record vital signs, perform ECGs and lung function tests, and other procedures as necessary. This position will also maintain study-specific laboratory supplies per individual protocol requirements and perform related clerical duties as needed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and completion of a phlebotomy certification or a medical assistant program and one (1) year of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. IV certification required. CPR certification within first three (3) months of employment.
Must have basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information is preferred.
6 months of human subjects research experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Mixed medical laboratory environment and dry laboratory environment. Position requires walking and/or standing most of the day with awkward reaching or strained positions. Will interact with research participants. May lift, carry, push, pull, objects up to 20lbs. Potential exposure to body fluids, blood, and blood borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste materials, and/or needle stick.

Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
