SA-TECH supports a dynamic U.S. Navy Directorate specializing in design, research, development, testing, and evaluation of experimental watercraft for its DoD clients. We provide full spectrum Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support of various combatant craft, patrol boats, Special Operations Forces platforms and coastal craft, ensuring performance and fleet readiness.
We are currently looking to hire an experienced Production Manager for our Combatant Craft Division at Naval Station Norfolk, VA to manage and effectively ensure we accomplish all routine corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
The Production Manager is responsible for maintaining asset accountability, maintenance and repair tracking, up-to-date condition reporting, and operational readiness across all contract watercraft.
The following job functions are the basic requirements for this role (but other duties may be assigned as well):
- Manages and effectively ensures we accomplish all routine corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Responsible for maintaining asset accountability, maintenance and repair tracking, up-to-date condition reporting, and operational readiness across all contract watercraft.
- All data is maintained in a Daily Tracking database that is briefed at the daily meetings until work is completed.
- Considers variables, such as operational forecast, anticipated need and other applicable factors, to assign watercraft by hull number to a category and maintain them to the level of readiness specified for the specific craft.
- Categorize vessel components by type and group them into subsystems, such as electrical, engineering, hull, deck, and general.
- Our personnel perform specific OM&R tasking in compliance with vessel technical procedures and processes defined in publications specific to the type of vessel or in Government engineering drawings, and further classified by each subsystem which may differ depending on craft type and classification.
- Will serve as a Trusted Advisor to the Program Manager and to the company Vice President.
- Ability to coach and motivate employees.
- Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
- Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
- Monitor production to resolve issues.
- Determine necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.).
- Approve maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.
- Ensure output meets quality standards.
- Enforce health and safety precautions.
- Report to upper management.
Work Conditions:
- Duties will include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and lifting.
- Work performed in industrial facilities, mainly indoors in a Marine environment.
Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
- BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field.
- 10 -20 years of management experience, particularly in Operations and Maintenance, preferably in the maritime domain.
- Prior military or DoD experience preferred.
- Should have strong written and oral communication skills for managing employees.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proven record in training employees about safety and production.
- Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Proven experience as production director.
- Deep knowledge of production management.
- Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
- Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts.
