The Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), Division of Driver License Services, is looking for an Office Specialist I who is ready to take on a fast-paced, dynamic role where you’ll be directly involved in shaping and improving processes that impact our community. Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

What you will do on a typical day:

  • Respond to inquiries from the Secretary of State’s office, constituents, and colleagues with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Dive deep into data, analyze trends, and offer insights that will directly influence decision-making and improve operations.
  • Take initiative in solving problems—whether it’s identifying errors or researching new solutions to drive efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams to address challenges and implement improvements, helping to enhance the services we provide to the public.
  • Prepare reports, summarize findings, and make recommendations to improve processes and systems.
  • Maintain and update web content that is crucial to the division’s operations, ensuring that all information is accurate and accessible.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director, while also taking ownership of projects and solving problems independently.

What you will need to succeed:

  • A solid understanding of office practices, with a focus on data input/output and quality control.
  • The ability to conduct research, analyze complex data, and implement practical solutions.
  • Experience with web content management and the ability to ensure all information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage inventories and supplies effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word, and familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional writing skills, enabling you to create clear and concise reports.
  • A keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in data and documents.
  • The ability to think critically and independently, offering suggestions for process improvements

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

(Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience.)

Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant IOffice Assistant IIOffice Associate I and Office Associate II.

All new hires must successfully pass a National Criminal Background check, including fingerprinting, prior to starting.
