Your Team, Your Impact
As the Director of EDA Business, you will be part of Marvell’s Central CAD and Design Services organization, a critical component of Marvell’s engineering team. Our team is responsible for enabling cutting-edge design capabilities across the company by providing innovative, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams that include design engineers, business unit leaders, and IT to develop the EDA (Electronic Design Automation) strategy for Marvell. By collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will help us accelerate the development of leading solutions for the Data Infrastructure market, driving the future of connectivity, storage, and computing solutions.What You Can Expect
In this role, you will drive Marvell’s EDA strategy, shaping both the technical roadmap and business approach for our global design teams. Your contributions will directly impact the success of product development cycles and operational efficiencies, as well as ensure Marvell remains at the forefront of semiconductor innovation. Through effective collaboration with EDA vendors and internal teams, you will ensure the adoption of the most productive tools and methodologies, all while optimizing costs and driving licensing strategies.
As the owner of EDA software licenses and the budget for the entire company, your expertise will directly affect how Marvell designs and develops innovative products. You will not only be a key player in improving designer productivity, but you will also negotiate critical business deals that can shape the competitive advantages of Marvell in the fast-paced semiconductor industry.
What Can You Expect
- Lead EDA Strategy: Drive the overall EDA strategy and roadmap, balancing technical and business priorities. Establish partnerships with key EDA vendors to influence their product roadmaps in alignment with Marvell’s business needs.
- Own EDA Budget & Licensing: Oversee Marvell’s EDA software licenses and manage the global EDA budget. Work closely with finance and procurement teams to ensure optimal use of resources while supporting business growth.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with EDA vendors to secure favorable deals for Marvell. Build long-term strategic relationships with vendors to ensure consistent delivery of value.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including design teams, IT, finance, and legal departments, to implement robust EDA methodologies and tools that maximize designer productivity and cost efficiency.
- Innovation & Productivity: Develop and implement processes, tools, and methodologies that enhance the productivity of Marvell’s design teams. Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of tool usage and cost management across the company.
- Risk Management: Mitigate risks by ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations. Collaborate with the legal department to manage intellectual property, licensing terms, and contracts to ensure favorable and compliant outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: BS degree with 15+ years or an MBA with 13+ years of experience in EDA management, semiconductor design, or related roles. Prior experience managing EDA business for a semiconductor company or EDA sales is highly desired.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of EDA tools, methodologies, and workflows, including the strengths and weaknesses of various solutions available in the market. Familiarity with digital, analog, and mixed-signal design flows is highly valued.
- Business Acumen: Proven track record in managing large budgets and negotiations with EDA vendors. Solid understanding of financial principles and ability to structure complex business deals.
- Negotiation & Communication Skills: Strong negotiation skills to effectively manage vendor relationships and ensure favorable terms for Marvell. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments and with senior leadership.
